Rune of Earth Person
You are the Soil, and the Soil is you
Representation of a person that is rooted and connected to the Earth. Realizing that he is part of the Earth and not separated from it.
You are lost
You are lost in a world of pleasure, material, and comfort. You live as a king in your apartment, where everything is taken care of. Your food never comes from your own hands. You do not chop your own wood to heat the space. You exercise not because life demands it, but because you think you should. The apartment is wrapped in plastic like a Christmas present. Holding you safely inside your bubble of pleasure, grasping, and comfort. You do not know your neighbor, but might only slightly remember her first name. But still she lives just on the other side of the wall of your apartment.
You go to work wearing your plastic shoes. Walking on plants millions of years old. Physically separating yourself from the Earth. Meeting your co-workers but not really connecting with them.
You think that your value and worth is placed in how much you produce and accomplish. That if you just did a little more, then someone will finally say you are a good boy. Or your father would finally be proud of you. You get lost in the mall looking for the next thing to bring home. Thinking that if you had just that perfect thing, then your life would be ideal and you would be valuable.
You collect and save vast amounts of money. Thinking that the future and stock market are a great place to invest them in. You have forgotten that true safety is not in hoarding money in some distant company and the future. True safety is investing time, energy and money into people, local community and growing your own fucking potatoes. When your rucksack is full of potatoes you grew yourself, that is when safety lands in your stomach.
You trade your life to get more money. To buy more stuff. To fill up more space. To take on more mortgage. To trade more of your life to get more money. You live inside a vicious cycle that will end in disaster.
You walk on grass, but feel separated from it. You see the tree in the forest, but do not see yourself as it. You see the homeless people and do not help them, because you feel they are not your family. You have forgotten who you are. You have forgotten your roots.
I know deeply how all of this feels.
I have lived with the thought that I am separated from everything else. That I do not deserve to feel connected to life, nature and other people. That my number one value is placed in how much I accumulate and in how much I produce. I am not here to judge or to blame, but to tell the truth. Your life is not working, because you do not genuinely care about yourself. And you see yourself separate from things outside yourself.
I am the Soil
Stop lying to yourself. See and feel yourself as not separate, but connected to the things around you. Start to genuinely care for yourself. The invitation is to increase connection and care to yourself.
Your body was created through your mother, the food she ate and the minerals from the soil. Plants get their energy from the Sun and when they die, they leave the Sun's energy in the soil. Even the Sun is born and created from other objects. The process can be simply written as this:
Sun → Plants → Soil → Food → You
When your body dies, it cycles back and becomes a part of an ongoing, living, and breathing ecosystem that is Mother Earth. Completing the cycle looks like this.
Sun → Plants → Soil → Food → You → Soil
This visualization serves one point.
YOU ARE THE SOIL
I am you reading this, and you are me writing these words. We all come from the same place. Mother Earth. What you do to the soil is connected to your wellbeing. Fill the ocean with heavy metals, fills the fish with heavy metals, and in the end you fill yourself with heavy metals. Pollute the soil, and the pollution in the end cycles back to you. There is no escape from this truth.
Wake up
Stop being lost in pleasure, material and comfort. Compost your food and return it to the Earth. Touch the Earth and think: “I am touching another part of myself”. Chop your own wood so you learn to heat yourself up. Exercise because it is a lifestyle. Wrap your house in natural materials, so both it and you can breathe. Ring your neighbor’s doorbell and invite them over for a meal. Stop physically separating yourself from the Earth.
When you walk the streets, look at the people around you as yourself. See your co-workers as human beings and not objects for you to get what you need. Place your value in your being, instead of doing and having. You are not a human doing, but a human being.
Transfer your money to serve yourself and a local community. Let it serve the present moment and not a distant future. Let it serve your own regenerative journey. Remove it from the stock market. It is rotten to the core. And lastly, grow your own fucking potatoes.
We are all Children of Mother Earth and we are all Earth Persons. We all come from the same place. Our mothers’ wombs and the soil. You are part of a single human society. The only thing that stands in your way is the thought that says otherwise.
Call yourself an Earth Person. Shout it loudly so everyone can hear. If you do not do it, no one will.
